Intelligent counting in sequence captures

Hello,

I’m trying to use Addax for analyzing pictures from camera traps. My traps are configured for sequenced capturing. I get 5 pictures per camera trigger with a little delay in between. If I throw my data into Addax, all of those 5 pictures pass through detection and classification. The resulting statistics do not, in any way, take into account, that there is a high probability that there are partly or completely the same „objects“ detected.

As I try to analyze population data with the pictures taken by the camera traps, I’m very interested, if there is a way to group pictures into events and therefore reduce/prevent false double-counting of individual objects/animals. Sadly I did not find anything in the settings. But I thought, i can’t be the only one having this problem.

So, my questions are:

1. Is there a setting to group pictures from sequence captures to events to prevent double counting?

2. If so, where can i configure this? And

3. Is there maybe also a way to define a time-threshold to group multiple sequence captures to one event, e.g. if below 3 min from each other

4. If not, is this on the roadmap?

Thanks in advance,

Johanna

Hi @Johanna.Totzki ,

1. Is there a setting to group pictures from sequence captures to events to prevent double counting?

There is a setting that tells the AI to treat animals in thje same event (max 60 sec apart), so you smooth out false negatives. This doesn nothing with the statistics though…. It just makes sure you dont record stuff like ‘wolf/wolf/dog/wolf/wolf’.

2. If so, where can i configure this? And

See screenshot above.

3. Is there maybe also a way to define a time-threshold to group multiple sequence captures to one event, e.g. if below 3 min from each other

At the moment, no. But see below.

4. If not, is this on the roadmap?

Yes! Don’t you worry. All you are asking about will be available and configurable in the new v7. Stay tuned! it will all be better….
