Dear friends, I would appreciate your recommendations on which of these models is most accurate or robust for identifying species in the Ecuadorian Amazon (South America). I have also used the SpeciesNet identifier, but I wanted to know if the models only provide common names in English, meaning they do not provide the scientific name during the identification process?
Hi @Ernest,
I am not the most suitable person to give you advise on which model to use, as I am no expert on Ecuadorian Amazon fauna. But I do have some general things to note:
- The models will output their hard coded labels by default, as they are listed here ( AddaxAI - Simplifying camera trap image analysis with AI ), which can be either common or scientific depending on the model developer. However, if you enable taxonomic aggregation in advanced mode (top left button), you will get always the labels in the scientific notation.
- For which model performs best for you project, I would highly recommend testing all of the suitable models on a representatvie subset of your data first. I wrote down some instructions here: AddaxAI/markdown/quick-test.md at main · PetervanLunteren/AddaxAI · GitHub
I hope this helps!
Cheers,
Peter
