User Guide for Advanced Mode?

Hi Addax community,

Just wondering if there’s a user guide/explanation for how to use all the different features in the Advanced Mode for AddaxAI v6.11

Also, if you’re running a massive dataset (e.g. over 4 million images) through the basic ‘Show me the animals’ model can you pause or stop it at all if you need to do other tasks and put it aside to restart at another time?

Hugely appreciate any advice you can give.
Cheers

Hi @MaryT,

Apart from the “help” tab, there is no further documentation on what the features do. Is this sufficient for you?

Actually, when you are running just the basic ‘Show me the animals’ model (which is MegaDetector) on images, you can:

  1. Head over to Advanced mode
  2. Select the root folder that contains all 4 million images down the line
  3. Choose MegaDetector 5A or 5B at Model to detect…
  4. Choose None at Model to identify…
  5. Check Process images
  6. Check Use checkpoints and choose a number like 10000 as frequency
  7. Stat processing

The software will now save checkpoints automatically. If you need to pause, just quit the program. When you’re ready to continue, reselect the same folder, and enable ‘Continue from last checkpoint file’, it will resume where it (more or less) left off (depending on you checkpoint frequency).

Just a note: this only works with image processing using the detection model. The species identification models don’t currently support checkpoints.

Does that sound like a workable solution for you?

Cheers,

Peter
